First, another apology for the lack of posts. This year has turned out to be a very busy one for me, and while I wouldn't say maintaining my blog isn't important, other things always seem to get red-flagged.
One of these items happened to be my decision to join in with the other cosplayers that descend on PAX every year. Having some ideas on what to go as, I decided that a Big Daddy from 2K Games' Bioshock would be it. Of course it had to be one of the most technical costumes possible to make, but I've never been known to take the easiest route.
Fortunately, my skills in construction and auto mechanics helped out immensely, and after 5 weeks of long days, my PAX Prime 2013 Big Daddy costume was finished (on the opening morning of PAX, no less).
My amazing (ex)coworker*, Cindy Chow, was the Little Sister to my Big Daddy and we had a great time! The comments and support from total strangers was fantastic. We dropped by 2K Games and they loaded us up with swag, and later, the community manager for Irrational Games, J Goldberg, caught up with us for pictures.
In spite of hours being trapped in a hot, smelly, cumbersome suit that effectively made me blind and deaf, it was an incredible experience and totally worth it!
*sadly, Cindy is moving to The Big Apple with her boyfriend in a few days.
